When I was dreaming of styling my ideal cake smash session, I knew I wanted it to have modern elements and exude simplicity. I wanted my subject to stand out and I wanted the cake to have texture with florals and greenery. FYI, I LOVE florals and greenery woven in to my sessions. If I can incorporate it into every session I do I totally will!! I am so happy with how everything turned out. I was a little nervous about decorating the cake with florals but I ended up loving it and I think I found a new hobby! 😉 Bethel was the perfect model. Let me tell you a little bit about this sweet girl with cake all over her cheeks. Bethel has a heart condition and has beaten the odds over the first year of her life. Thank you, Lord! She is so full of joy and her smile is truly contagious. I sat with her mother, Holly, and listened to Bethel’s story before we started shooting. Being pregnant right now, it hit so close to home. It was jaw dropping hearing how Holly found out something was going on and how she had to continue through much of the pregnancy with so many unknowns. Bethel was expected to have heart surgery during the first year of her life. Bethel is now one year old and has yet to undergo a surgery! That is a wonderful thing! Instead, she is doing a fun cake smash session and I am so thankful.

Enjoy looking through one of my favorite sessions ever! 🙂
